Biar: Moros y Cristianos is dedicated to "Mare de Deu de Gracia" (10-13 of May) with the original dance "Ball de les Espies". Another peculiar festivity is "Rei Paixaró" (17th of January) to honour Sant Antoni.
Villena: Moros y cristianos dedicated to honour the Virgen de las Virtudes (5th to 9th of September)
In most of the villages of Alicante the Moros y Cristianos festivities are celebrated throughout the year (from January to December).In these festivities music, expresive representions and gunpowder are put toghether with the typical cuisine of each village.It is essential to enjoy and getting to know the character of the Levante (East): sensual, imaginative, noisy and gentle.

Excursions
On the boarder between 3 provinces, Biar is on a crossroads that connects with the rough region of the Sierra de Mariola, whichs connects it to interresting places as Banyeres, Bocairent(in Valencia); with the Sierra de Aitana, through villages like Ibi, Castalla, Alcoi and with the Vinalopó valley, on the natural way to the sea with interresting towns like Villena, Sax, Novelda...until Elche and Alicante. Each of these places have a rich History that, from the Palaeolithic has been enriched by the different people who inhabited the area (Iberians, Phoenicians, Romans, Muslims..) A broad variety of civilisations of which you can see samples in museums od archaeology in Villena (splendid Iberian gold treasure), Alcoi, Bocairent and Elche.
